Joseph Newman is a versatile writer with a passion for blending multiple genres into compelling narratives. With B.A.-level coursework that includes Film Studies credits, his creative foundation is shaped by both academic study and lived experience. He is also a hobbyist photographer, continually working to maintain a creative headspace while exploring which of his passions may evolve into a full-time career.

Joseph has experience writing screenplays, including a television pilot and several short scripts. His television series pitch placed in the Top 10 of Coverfly’s Virtual Pitch Competition in 2025 and ranked within the top percentage of all projects pitched on Coverfly that year. He has also worked on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, as well as other Warner Bros. locations as a security guard, giving him firsthand exposure to the day-to-day environment of a major studio.

He is particularly drawn to historical fiction, where he can explore complex themes of the past while crafting stories that resonate with modern audiences. His fascination with horror and psychological thrillers allows him to delve into the darker corners of the human mind, creating suspenseful, unsettling narratives that captivate readers and viewers.

Currently, Joseph is shifting from short-form screenwriting to feature-length projects while also developing his first novel. The novel is a psychological crime and horror story inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, set in modern-day Los Angeles. Its goal is to push the boundaries of traditional crime fiction by introducing a disturbing, horror-driven climax.
