My television series Stone was set up at Depth of Field, with Chris Weitz (About a Boy, Rogue One, Murderbot) attached to direct the pilot. I also developed my TV series Sylvia with Peter Dinklage's Estuary Films. Other projects have been optioned by companies including Paramount Television and CAVIAR (Sound of Metal, The Diary of a Teenage Girl). Up next is my semi-autobiographical feature Hummingbird, starring Gus Birney and Jessica Hecht, which I will be directing. I'm a SUNDANCE EPISODIC LAB ALUM, where I developed my half-hour comedy Loons. Also, my short film The Strangeness You Feel received a whole bunch of awards on the festival circuit including best dramatic short of the year at NFMLA.

As a writer/filmmaker, I'm obsessed with the messy overlap between comedy and tragedy—those awkward, beautiful, painful moments where real life happens. I tend to write about people on the margins: seekers, survivors, spiritual oddballs, and anyone else who doesn't quite fit the mold.

I grew up in Skokie, IL., in a working-class family shaped by mental illness, faith, and a lot of humor—those themes find their way into just about everything I write. I'm drawn to characters who are seeking something greater than themselves, even if they don't know exactly what that is.
