Marianne Aleck is an award-winning screenwriter and author whose work explores themes of love, faith, family, identity, and resilience. After retiring, she pursued a lifelong dream of storytelling. She quickly established herself as a prolific screenwriter, completing multiple feature-length screenplays spanning historical drama, coming-of-age drama, psychological suspense, and supernatural mystery in just over a year.

Her screenplay Greenshoes, inspired by true events, is a 1970s coming-of-age drama about two young women navigating first love amid the pressures of family, faith, and small-town expectations. The screenplay was named Overall Feature Winner in the Spring 2026 Santa Barbara Screenplay Awards Diverse Writers Outreach competition.

Aleck is also the author of The Liberty Club, a 500-page generational family memoir spanning more than a century of family history that reads like a novel. She adapted the book into a feature screenplay of the same name, a historical romance-drama that follows a Greek-American paratrooper and a young French woman whose love is tested by the aftermath of World War II.

Her additional screenplays include Follow the Crash, a psychological thriller centered on an estranged father whose search for answers uncovers a long-buried tragedy, and Veda's Vintage, a supernatural mystery about a small-town shopkeeper who begins receiving cryptic calls on an unplugged rotary phone and becomes convinced the voice on the line belongs to a murdered woman whose remains have never been found.

Drawing inspiration from real lives, family history, and personal experience, Aleck writes character-driven stories that explore connection, belonging, redemption, and the courage to remain true to oneself. Whether writing intimate dramas, historical narratives, suspense thrillers, or mysteries with supernatural elements, she is most interested in the emotional journeys that shape and define a life.

A lifelong Californian, Marianne is actively developing new projects while seeking literary representation and production opportunities for her work.
