Kris Taylor is a writer, director and actor based in Dublin, Ireland. A graduate of the intense and highly successful improvisational theatre show Tempus Fugitive which ran every summer for 15 years, 2-3 shows daily in Southsea Castle. Kris was deeply involved from the earliest phases and after 10 years of playing multiple roles and writing, he directed for 5 years, as much as one can direct in improv. Moving into film, Kris worked in productions of all sizes and genres, mostly as an actor, but where possible contributing behind the camera. In 2022 he found himself in a position to produce a short film of a screenplay he’d co-written based on a feature film script he’d created. With limited budget it made sense for his co-writer, who was already an award-winning director, to take over the director’s chair, but very shot/storyboards was a collaborative effort. The film Ór na Banríona (The Queens Gold) went on to win 17 international awards, 37 laurels and was a finalist at the Oscar qualifying Cinequest International Film Festival in California, narrowly beaten by a Werner Herzog short. His work explores themes such as the value of human contact and the intersection of greed, unfairness and inequality. He currently has multiple projects in various stages of development including a feature based on his award-winning short set in the modern world. He has 2 shorts ready to move into pre-production once the balance of the budget is raised, one a time-travelling, comedic satire based on his years in Tempus Fugitive, the other a thought-provoking, action-drama, both commentaries on the world (over reliance on tech and the difficulties of intimate relationships). To fully express his vision, Kris feels needs to take over the director’s chair.
