Lauri Jon Caravella

Lauri Jon Caravella is a writer, costume designer, visual artist, and former ballerina, who still voluntarily tortures her toes en pointe. An Italian New Yorker, Lauri Jon grew up to the melodious sounds of her parents constant yelling (at each other, not at her). After their divorce, being whisked off to Tampa with her father and 3 of her 4 siblings made her feel like a fish-out-of-water. Yet, art directing fashion photo shoots and costume designing for LA Theater enabled Lauri Jon to connect with like-minded people and see the workplace as family. So she’s been inspired to write female-led, balls to the walls—feel-good comedy pilots and RomCom features where the protagonists pivot—surrounded by eclectic characters, learn to thrive in their new environments—all while rediscovering their own value as a human. Lauri Jon is an alum of Michael Jamin’s Showrunner’s Guide To Screenwriting Course and Roadmap’s Career Writers’ Program. Her poetry has been published in the University of South Florida’s Literary Journal, Sunscripts. Having lived in Manhattan (NY—not the beach one), she’s currently resigned to be a valley girl—not that valley the Simi one. When she’s not sewing, painting, or pirouetting you can find her writing at her 1940s desk sipping copious amounts of Colombian coffee.
