I am a screenwriter, playwright, and theatre director from Nigeria. I specialize in telling culturally authentic African stories for global audiences. My dream is to see the treasure trove of Nigerian/African stories thriving on the world stage, sharing both unique and universal experiences that connect all humanity.
In film, I have worked on two Nigerian titles "Green White Green" (2016) and "The Lost Okoroshi" (2019) which are notable for being contemporary pioneers in Nigerian cinema's breakout into the global festival scene. Both films had their world premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival and featured in numerous festivals such as the British Film Institute’s London Film Festival, Germany’s Berlinale International Film Festival, New York’s African Film Festival, the Stockholm Film Festival, World Cinema Amsterdam, and more.
In theatre, my play "54 Silhouettes" has been on the global theatrical circuit for fifteen years. Among its many achievements, it has won accolades such as the BBC African Performance first runner-up prize (2011), the Stratford East/30 Nigeria House Grant (2012), and the award for Best International Show at New York’s United SOLO Theatre Festival (2019), the first Nigerian play to ever feature in the festival. The play has also been adopted into the theatre and African literature programs at The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) London, The University of the Arts Helsinki, and The University of Victoria, Victoria BC, Canada.
