Lisa Verlo is a writer, performer, and lyricist whose work lives at the intersection of humor, trauma, and cultural reckoning. Her stories explore how power, gender, and ambition collide behind the scenes of art and fame, often through the lens of women who refuse to stay silent any longer.
Her acclaimed solo shows Sex Rated G and HOLLYWOODN’T have been presented at major festivals in Los Angeles and Edinburgh, Scotland, blending memoir, music, and dark comedy to interrogate the myths we tell about success, sexuality, and survival. Lisa also wrote, directed, and produced the original musical The Door. Her writing draws on her decades-long career in theatre, film, and music, where she has worked both inside and adjacent to the entertainment industry she now skewers.
Lisa is currently developing Final Cut , a satirical thriller about women reclaiming the narrative from a legendary filmmaker who built his legacy on their silence. Through sharp dialogue and fearless storytelling, she uses comedy as a scalpel, cutting into systems of power that continue to shape women’s lives. She also publishes her memoir-in-progress HOLLYWOODN’T on Substack, chronicling her experiences navigating art, love, and exploitation in the entertainment world.
