Geneviève has always loved the art of story-telling. As a child, she adored writing terrible stage-plays and stories on an old dial-up PC that was tucked away under the stairs.
For the majority of her adult life, her love of writing was eclipsed by her love of performing – she graduated from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts with a first-class BA (Hons) in Acting and continues to work professionally as an actor.
It wasn't until the Covid pandemic that she finally began writing for pleasure again, made the move into filmmaking and set up her production company: Something Quirky.
Despite having a very bright and bubbly personality, she is inexplicably drawn to works that are dark, sinister or just a little bit weird.
Her first short film: Zugzwang (2024) won: ‘Best Quentin Tarantino’ at the monthly Absurd Film Festival. It was also selected for: Birmingham Film Festival, Sweden Film Awards, and was a finalist for the Short is Beautiful Film Festival.
Her second short film: Soul Trader, was the recipient of the Reel Brum Open Door Film Fund. It is currently on the festival circuit, having already picked up Best Production at ‘Folkestone Film Festival’, Best Absurd Film at the monthly ‘Absurd Film Festival’, 15-20 minute Category Winner at ‘Short is Beautiful Film Festival’ and achieving selections at ‘Short to The Point’ and the upcoming ‘Fortean Film Festival’.
Geneviève also works as a producer and is currently producing: Holy Shit, which was recently awarded the Trevor Beattie Film Fund. She previously produced: Bunny Jake is Missing (2023) written and directed by her husband Shane Grant. The film has appeared in a large number of festivals and won multiple awards, including: Best Writing at the Midlands Movie Awards.
